“Remember, remember, the Fifth of November
Gunpowder treason and plot
I see no reason why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot

Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, ’twas his intent
To blow up the King and the Parliament
Three score barrels of powder below
Poor old England to overthrow
By God’s providence he was catch’d
With a dark lantern and burning match
Holler boys, holler boys, let the bells ring
Holler boys, holler boys, God save the King!”

Dear all,

Apparently the Glasgow Property Letting extended team had side bet if I would send out an email this week or if I could stick to every other week ! 😂
I don’t want to say I am quite glad I have information to pass on, but I am happy to be writing to you.

I think that it is safe to say I didn’t have a great week last week.
No reason for it really, I’m sure the Westminster announcement and the American election didn’t help, however as I was reading the older email I had sent out I was reminded that the point of this is to pass on any relevant legislation information and hopefully raise a smile.

A dear friend, who I hadn’t realised read the emails, which are also posted onto the website, told me to get my head out my armpit (armpit wasn’t the word used), refocus my mind and do something about my hair as it is looking like a cross between Tim Minchin , Worzel Gummidge and Mrs Twit! It really is the oldest if friends that can be the most brutally honest. And I had a hair cut shortly after that character description!

My son reminded me that the emails sometimes are fun, and people don’t often get emails that make them smile, and “I’m sure the landlords don’t read all the boring bits, just the headers.”

My mum pointed out that the weekly email may be a benchmark for the week as for some people every day maybe like groundhog day. To be honest I think she was very kindly pointing out that I spend the week making notes, jotting down ideas for this email and it is a focal point of MY week.

I had a training webinar on Tuesday with the landlord accreditation Scotland who along with the council of letting agents are an excellent resource when I am writing these emails.

As the neighbouring countries to Scotland are in lockdown, itvmay be a fair assumption that Scotland will follow, which may affect employment and tenants rental payments

The Scottish Government short-term emergency loan scheme

The loan scheme opened for applications on 5 May 2020. The interest-free loan is available to landlords who have five or fewer rental properties and will fund lost rental income from a single property. It is designed to take the pressure off landlords, in the short-term, if their tenants are having difficulty making rent payments.

I am still waiting for any updated guidance and legislation to be sent out from our governing bodies
https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-landlord-and-letting-agent-faqs/

Has a lot of information regarding the changes and procedures that we are adhering to now, some procedural rent collection changes meaning that specific letters need to be sent out which link in with serving notices to leave and the reviewed time scales.

The Scottish government have not changed their information for agents and landlords yet. House moves can still happen, certificates can still be updated – obviously there is an element of common sense to be used with ppe equipment and confirmation that no one has symptoms.

Our office is still closed, and viewings are virtual with 72 hours being left between people being in the property.

Face coverings are being recommended for use on a widespread basis. Depending where you live, it may be compulsory to wear face coverings on public transport and in some public spaces, so this has become an essential part of everyday life.

I received an email which made me smile from an opticians, as a wearer of glasses, masks and foggy lenses are something that is a problem.

I know I will be trying out this advice with the hope that I can see where i am going when I am out for a walk!

Take care, stay safe , if you can send any email into admin@glasgowpropertyletting.com we will deal with them as soon as possible.

Kindest Regards
